Living, Breathing, Walking Miracle

  • Emily Elizabeth Anderson

My mother nearly miscarried me twice.

At the age of 13 I was diagnosed with the worst case of Crohn’s Disease any doctor has ever seen.

At 14 I developed a systemic staff infection and was told I would have died if we had started antibiotics only a few hours later than we did.

At 15 I developed a rare bone disease in one of my knees and lost complete use of that leg. I should have been in a wheelchair the rest of my life, but I fought everyday and rehabbed myself (no physical therapist would take my case) and I learned how to walk again.

At 17 I required emergency surgery out of state due to a life-threatening complication from Crohn’s. The surgeon came out of the OR early and, with tears in his eyes, told my mother he’d never seen such devastation done to the human body like that before.

At 24 while ensnared by a cult, Jesus rescued me out of a dark pit when I wanted to give up on my life and He told me I was valuable and redeemed and enough.

I shouldn’t be alive. I shouldn’t be walking. I shouldn’t be here.

I’m a living, breathing, walking miracle.

While some might look at my story and wonder “Where was God?” I look at my story and see the Father’s hand everywhere.

A life redeemed by Jesus doesn’t mean a life without pain. It means you have someone to carry you through the pain; One who understands exactly what you are feeling.

No matter how dark your circumstances seem to be, no matter how impossibly far out of reach hope feels, know within every fiber of your being that we serve a God who is Hope.

He’s the Redeemer who loves you more then you can imagine.

The One who will never give up on you.

The Author of miracles. 🙌

Miracles do happen. Every day. Trust Him with your story, for the God of miracles knows your name.

🎵 “I guess you could say

She's a living, breathing, walking miracle

Oh, they're all around us everywhere we go

The proof that we should never give up hope

'Cause we serve a God who turns impossible

Into living, breathing, walking miracles” —Matthew West, “Walking Miracles”
